URBAN I and II Community Initiatives – tackling urban problem areas to improve social and economic cohesion in cities • Between 1994 and 2006 these programmes put the integrated approach into practice in around 200 cities across the EU • URBAN II provided 70 cities with financial support from the ERDF (total funding of €700 million), targeting revival of disadvantaged urban districts based on the principle of developing integrated action plans (coordinating social, environmental and economic perspectives) POLISH LSG 3rd Seminar I Revitalisation - Integrated Approach to Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods 9th May 2010 – Krakow Page 9
