  4. New style of lessons • Flipped Class Model: • students watch videos of direct instruction via cell phones • activity in class that embraces the text or video presentation • assessed by completing the computerized tests on their smart phones, iPods, or lap-top.

  5. Flip that class! • Aaron Sams, along with Jonathan Bergmann were the first to flip their classes. The currently teach in Woodland Park Colorado and are writing a book about the Flipped Class.

Each goal addresses one of the five essential components of learning powered by technology: Learning, Assessment, Teaching, Infrastructure, and Productivity.

Benefits • Embracing the core curriculum around engaging projects. • Students become critical thinkers. • Students develop community interaction & team building skills. • Student & teacher interactions improve while checking for mastery of concepts. • Student-to-student subject matter conversations develop.

The New Classroom • Educators must be team players. • No classroom is an island. • Tools of the trade, connecting with colleagues across the curriculum and with in the curriculum need to be weaved in the everyday interactions of the classroom and lessons. • Goals & education plans (akin to the business plan of a sales associate) need to be established by the end of August each year. (The department heads oversee the plans to assist in reaching the goals set forth and link to the core curriculum / frameworks.)
