The newest dept. in St .Thomas’ College started in June, 2012. • Course offered – Bachelor of Visual Communication which is the first graduate programme in Visual Communication under the University of Calicut. • Two batches, 47 students. • The dept. was inaugurated by eminent media personality Mr. M. Sasi Kumar, President, Asian College of Journalism in the presence of His Excellency Mar RaphelThattil.

  4. INFRASTRUCTURE • The dept. has state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology which includes • A full-fledged editing suite. • Professional sound recording studio consisting of booths and console equipped with Pro-tools software. • Shooting-floor equipped with full-fledged lighting system.

  12. Seminar / confErence • Bachelor of Visual Communication covers almost all emerging areas of visual culture and communication. The first major venture was an international conference in collaboration with the Dept. of English on “CINEMA CULTURES IN SOUTH INDIA” on 13 & 14, October, 2012. Around 80 papers were presented in the conference.

  16. 2. The popular film critic, Vidyarthi Chatterjee, conducted a workshop on “HUNDRED YEARS OF INDIAN CINEMA”

  17. 3. AnkiMukherjee, Researcher on Film Studies, EFLU Hyderabad – workshop on ‘Bengali Cinema and its Origin’ 4. SajanKalathil ,Cinematographer – workshop on Cinematography.

  22. FESTIVALS Dessert Film Festival – In this festival we screened few films from the fringes of the Middle East and for discussing the milieu. The films are drawn from Tunisia, Palestine, Israel, Morocco, and Lebanon. (Sept.7& 8)

  24. FD Zone weekly screening : Film Screening on every Thursdays in collaboration with Film division -Mumbai and Chalachithrakendram -Thrissur

  25. National Documentary Short film online Festival: In collaboration with IFFT we are conducting first online film festival in India. Competitions are in following categories.. Documentary 2. Short film 3. Animation film The Festival Office was inaugurated by the Honourable Mayor of Thrissur, Sri Rajan Palan
