  1. Task4.3 Infrastructure SupportWP4:InternationalTestbed Organisation(http://ific.uv.es/grid/CROSSGRID-IFIC/) Jose F. Salt Cairols Instituto de Física Corpuscular (Valencia) IFIC Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas

  2. Contents • Goals • Partners & Human Resources • Concrete Contributions • Relationship with DATAGRID Project • List of deliverables • Timetable • Summary

  3. Goals • Study of available tools for Fabric Management for GRIDs • To define an User Support and Help Desk for the collaboration • To provide Installation Kit • Network Support

  4. Partners • Partners: • CSIC • FZK • UCY • UAB • USC • AUT • LIP

  5. FZK (Karlsruhe): H. Marten UAB (Barcelona): A. Pacheco AUTh (Thesaloniki): C. Petridou LIP (Lisboa): J. Gomes UCY (Cyprus): M. Dikaiakos USC (Santiago de Compostela): A. Gómez (CESGA) CSIC(Spain) J. Marco (IFCA,Santander) J. Salt (IFIC, Valencia) A. Fuentes(RedIRIS,Madrid) Partners (II):Contact personsChecking

  6. Human Resources(102 PM)

  7. Minimal Infrastructure • Minimum hardware for the deployment if a local X# testbed site: • GIIS(Grid Index Information Service) machine, • dedicated 100 Mbps switch • 3 machines (standard type, double processor Intel compatible > > >1GHz, 512 Mb RAM, HD40GB) • One CA (Certification Authority) machine per country • Registration Authority web Server and LDAP server ( 1 per country) • Dedicated gatekeeper ( 1 per site) • Dedicated network monitoring system ( 1 per site) Cost = 180 KEur

  8. Concrete contributions • Fabric management in an interactive framework • Help desk • Close interaction with the National Network providerspromotion & development • Prepare the Installation Kits

  9.  Help Desk (I): Discussion • First step: to have a list of the features to be fullfilled by the HD software: • which kind of services? • Free or paying? • Only for WP4or for the whole Collaboration? • To include a section of F.A.Q. ( Frequent Asked Questions)? • ...

  10. Help Desk (II): First ideas(CSIC will be the responsible of maintaining the Help Desk) • To follow the evolution of a given question • to generate installation recipes • to have access to tutorials • To build a Knowledge Data Base • Fast links to different services • Bug tracking system

  11.  Installation Kit • CSIC will be responsible for the testbed kit release • UCYand AUTh will work on the impact of the changes related to new releases • simplify the coexistence of different software releases

  12. Network Support (I): Objetives(LIP: Responsible of this subtask) • Monitoring Tools • To Establish a shared resource called • Network Element (NE) • To collaborate with the Network Service Provider • in designing specific network services • by mapping the application/middleware requeriments to network services (QoS, Multicast, etc)

  13. Network Support (II): Strategy • Year 1: • Network requeriments studies • Network connectivity/capacity evaluation • Initial network monitoring architecture • Year 2 and 3: • Optimize the monitoring architecture • Performance optimization • Grid Traffic monitoring tools • Year 3:

  14. Relationship with DATAGRID • To assure interoperability with DATAGRID testbed • to take profit of the expertise of the DATAGRID project: • WP4 (Fabric Management) • ‘Porsuit’ X# people: Poznan, Karsruhe • WP6 (Testbed and Demonstrators) • Installation Kit  to adapt it / to create our version? • ‘Porsuit’ X# people: R. Marco, J. Gomes • WP7 (Network Services) • Network management • ‘Porsuit’ X# people: Lisbon

  15. List of Deliverables(Year 1) • D4.1,report, month 3, ‘Detailed planning for testbed setup’, May’02 • Infraestucture, manpower and network resources review at each site (ALL) • definition of site expertise and special hardware infraestrucure (Mass storage, specific platform?) (CSIC) • Interoperability/coordination with DATAGRID (FZK) • User support and Helpdesk requirements (CSIC) • D4.2, prototype, month 6, ‘First testbed setup on selected sites’, August’02 • Installation kit and documentation web site (CSIC) • Setup of repositorty software and Helpdesk at CSIC • D4.3,R, month 9, ‘WP4 status internal report’ November’02 • General status on the testbed setup status with specific sections • D4.4,P, month 10, ‘First testbed prototype release ’, December’02 • Installation kit and documentation web site update (CSIC) • Update of repository software and Helpdesk at CSIC

  16. First 3 months: review and setup the local infraestructures to provide a Help Desk reinforce connection with DATAGRID Months 4-6 Prepare Installation Kit Prepare Help Desk setup Months 7-10 Update Installation Kit Extend HD support Report on experience Timetable (I)

  17. Months 11-21 Update Installation Kit Consideration of special hardware requirements from application side Months 22-30 Update Installation Kit Consideration of realistic requirements from application side Months 31-36 Final testbed with integration of applications Timetable (II)

  18. Installation Kit: do we need to adapt or to create a new version? Interactive environment Help Desk: appropriate product points to be covered Network support: to define the model Dependencies with other WP’s in CROSSGRID Interoperability with DATAGRID Summary
