  2. The childhood of Walt Disney Walt Disney was born at Chicago, Illinois on December 3,1901. While growing up he live with his parents Elias and flora Disney. When he was 5 years old Walt and his parents moved to Marceline, Missouri, were they lived for 4 years. As he grew he got an interest in drawing and trains, and his uncle was also a train engineer in Marceline. Walt had a sister named Ruth Disney, when his family moved to Kansas City he and his sister went to Benton Grammar School. Walt made a friend named Walter Pfeiffer Walter’s family was involved in motion picture films this is were Walt became interested in films and theater.

  3. The making of Walt Disney Studios In 1917 he and his family moved back to Chicago were Walt went to McKinley High School, and were he began night classes at the Chicago Art Institute. Although he had his classes he also had a job of designing art work for magazines, newspapers, and movie posters. Later on he and an artist (Ubbe Iwerks) started a commercial art studio which his brother Roy helped began in Hollywood, California. Walt Disney Productions, was located on Hyperion Avenue in Hollywood, but today in is known as Walt Disney Company. Walt’s wife (Lillian) also helped him in his company as a secretary before they were married on July 5, 1925. They had two daughters Diane Mariewas born on December 8,1933; Sharon Mae was born on December 21,1934.

  4. Walt Disney and Mickey As you know Mickey Mouse is one of Walt’s most famous characters. Did you know that Walt thought of naming him Mortimer, but as time went on his wife Lillian thought of the name Mickey Mouse. This is now a famous character at Disney Studios. In 1932 Walt was given an Academy Award for the creation of Mickey Mouse, and that is when Disney became famous. Walt Disney has the most record for Oscar nominations and he was nominated for 40 of them, as well as seven Emmys Awards.

  5. Walt Disney's Last Days On December 15,1966 Walt Disney died of lung cancer because he was a life-time cigarette smoker. Before his death he started sketching ideas for a Disney Theme Park. His ideas was from his trip to Children's Fairyland in Oakland, California. Also in 1964 Walt Disney was on a secret mission of buying land in Florida for his next dream. He wanted to build a larger version of Disneyland and he wanted to call The Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately Walt Disney died before the construction was finished; so Roy took over the project.When The Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, opened in 1971. Then three months later Roy died.
