  3. Standards/Objectives Standard 8: Cadets know and apply theories of leadership. Objective B: Cadets understand leadership roles, levels and teams and know the conditions of followership necessary to be an effective leader. Objective C:Cadets know the definition of a leader and leadership and know the Cadet Leader’s Code from memory. Objective F:Cadets know the roles and responsibilities of noncommissioned officers. Objective G:Cadets know the roles and responsibilities of officers. JROTC-9: Leadership

  5. Anticipatory Set With a partner and using prior knowledge, explain the main differences and/or relationships that exists between commissioned officers, warrant officers, noncommissioned officers (NCOs), and enlisted Soldiers. JROTC-9: Leadership

  12. LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP There are three levels of leadership: JROTC-9: Leadership

  13. LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP -Continued Direct Leadership Involves: • Face-to-face interactions • Subordinates’ development and influence • Close to action and / or problem JROTC-9: Leadership

  14. LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP -Continued Organizational leadership Involves: • Influencing large group of people • Establishing policies • Long term planning • Complexity and uncertainty • Constant revision and modifications JROTC-9: Leadership

  15. LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP -Continued Strategic leadership Involves: • Establishing structure • Allocating resources • Communicating strategic vision • Preparing everyone for future roles • Uncertainty and political influence JROTC-9: Leadership

  16. LEADER TEAMS & STRUCTURES Leadership within teams usually comes in two forms: • Legitimate (formal) • Influential (informal) JROTC-9: Leadership
