  1. Misckey’s Adventure By: Bethany Exded Date: August 6, 2002 Class - Period: Language Arts - 1st Period

  2. Misckey trudged aimlessly along the road. Tears welled up inside him as he thought about his day at school. “Why do they have to be so mean?” he thought to himself. That day at school the other bugs had teased him ruthlessly over his big nose.

  3. Their words played inside of him like a broken record. But, he walked on trying to forget the name-calling. Misckey was one of the few mosquitoes in Bugville. He lived in a big oak tree wit his mom and baby sister. Ever since he could remember he was teased over his big nose. It always seemed to get in the way. Wiping the tears from his eyes he arrived at his home. He opened the door and couldn’t say hello before his sister, Skeety, jumped into his arms.

  4. “Hi Misckey!” she yelled joyfully. “I missed you so much today. Do you wanna come color with me? Oh please!” “Not right now Skeety,” he replied. “I’ve had a rough day.” He walked to his room and slid his backpack off his back. The phone began to ring and he ran to get it.

  5. “Hello?” he answered. He listened carefully to Professor Keeto on the other end of the phone. “Now listen carefully Misckey,” the professor said. “I have finished my invention and I would be honored if you would come down to my lab to try it out.” “I’d love to!” replied Misckey. He had always been Professor Keeto’s helper. Misckey gave his mom a kiss good-bye and zipped out the door. Running down the road Misckey didn’t stop to talk to anybody he passed. He was so excited to try the Professor’s new invention and he had his mind set on getting to his destination.

  6. He got to Professor’s lab and knocked the secret knock. “Professor I’m here,” he yelled loudly. The professor swung open the door to greet his helper. “Good afternoon Misckey, thank you so much for helping me today.”

  7. “No problem Professor. So what’s your invention anyway?” Misckey asked. “It is very unique,” said the professor. “This machine here can change any body part you’d like.” He pointed towards the large machine full of gadgets in the corner. Misckey had many doubts. This was his opportunity to shorten his nose if he wanted to. But, what if something went wrong? If you would like Misckey to try the invention and make his nose smaller…CLICK HERE if you would like Misckey to reject the offer…CLICK HERE

  8. Misckey decided to go for it. Life would be great with a smaller nose. He would no longer be taunted by the other bugs at school. He would be able to live a better life. “I’m ready professor,” he said. Misckey skipped over to the chair next to the machine and sat down.

  9. Professor Keeto strapped him down to the chair and placed a funny looking helmet on Misckey’s head. “Are you ready Misckey?” asked the professor. “Yes!” Misckey said confidently. “OK tell me which part of your body you want to have changed,” said Keeto. “I would like my nose to be shorter,” replied Misckey. The professor typed some things into the computer that was hooked up to the machine.

  10. He put a device over Misckey’s nose and pushed the ON button. If you would like the invention to work and Misckey to get a shorter nose, CLICK HERE If you want the machine to have a mishap, CLICK HERE

  11. Misckey walked over to the chair next to the machine and sat down. “Are you ready?” asked the professor. “Um I think so,” replied Misckey hesitantly. There were so many doubts running through his mind. He was afraid that something would go wrong with the machine. The professor hooked Misckey up to the machine. “Are you ready?” asked the professor who was very excited to try his new invention. Misckey didn’t answer. “OK, here we go!” the professor exclaimed. Professor Keeto was ready to push the button when…

  12. “WAIT! I can’t do it professor. I’m sorry I’m just too scared of what might happen.” “I understand Misckey. Maybe if you are ready another day we’ll try it again,” the professor replied disappointed. He unstrapped Misckey and sent him on his way.

  13. Misckey was angry with himself. He knew he had disappointed the professor, but he just couldn’t help being so worried. Misckey decided to go sit in the park where he could relax. He sat at the bench near the playground. He lay back and stared at the bright blue sky. The clouds seemed like vanilla frosting, swirling through the sky. Misckey’s peace was quickly interrupted when he heard loud vivacious shouts coming from the playground.

  14. He sat up and saw two ants picking on a ladybug. They were yelling at her and calling her mean names.

  15. Misckey knew he should help her. The ants were so big though. What should he do? If you want Misckey to stand up for the lady bug, CLICK HERE if you want him to do nothing, CLICK HERE

  16. Misckey’s nose began to tingle. The professor switched to the OFF button, and took the head and nose pieces off of Misckey. “Wow!” the professor said. “Youlook amazing.” Misckey jumped up and ran over to a mirror.

  17. He examined his nose carefully. He was so excited. His nose was much shorter and he would no longer be teased. He thanked the professor and gave him a great big mosquitohug. “Thank you so much Professor Keeto. I just love my new nose!” He flew out the door and down the road to show all of his friends. He stopped at Hop the grasshopper’s house, Roll the rollie pollie’s house, and of course his best friend Dot the ladybug.

  18. They all loved it. At Dot’s house he stayed for dinner. The whole family ranted over Misckey’s new nose. Dot liked it, but she also loved Misckey’s old nose. “Your nose looks great,” said Dot. “But, I really did like you the way you were.”

  19. “I know,” said Misckey. “I liked my old self too, until the kids at school started to make fun of me.” “Misck, you need to learn that what other people think doesn’t matter. You should love and accept yourself,” said Dot. “I guess you’re right,” said Misckey. “But, there’s no changing back. It’s permanent.” Misckey was no longer excited about his nose. What Dot said was true. He shouldn’t care what the kids at school say. He should ignore them and hang around the bugs that do accept him.

  20. That night he lay in bed thinking about his new nose. Maybe Professor Keeto could change it back. He would find out in the morning. RINGGGG, RINGGGG! Misckey’s alarm went off at 7:00 am, like always. He got up and brushed his teeth.

  21. He looked in the mirror to make sure they looked as white as pearls (his mom always told him they did). He put his backpack on and... wait a second. He ran back to the mirror and stared long and hard. He was back to normal! His nose was back to its regular size! He was so excited; he couldn’t wait to show Dot. That day he went to school and the children began to taunt him. As they did he told them, “I don’t care what you think of me anymore. I like my nose and you can tease me all you want, but it won’t bother me.” He walked away feeling very proud of himself.

  22. “Good job Misckey! I knew you could stand up to them,” said Dot. “Thanks Dot. It’s good to be back to my old self.” The kids stopped teasing Misckey once they realized he wasn’t going to react to them anymore. He had learned to love himself just the way he was. Even if he did have a big nose. THE END

  23. Misckey felt nothing but jittery. The professor took the devices off of Misckey and he jumped out of the chair. He ran to the mirror and his heart sank. “Professor, I don’t look any different!” Misckey said. “I don’t know what could have happened. I guess I still have some work to do. I’m sorry to disappoint you Misck.” “It’s okay professor.” He walked out of lab with a frown upon his face. On his way home he saw his best friend Dot outside playing in the yard. “Oh, hi Dot,” he said sadly.

  24. “Misckey what’s wrong?” asked Dot. “Well I was at Professor Keeto’s lab and he wanted me to try his new invention. It can change any body part you’d like. I wanted to get my nose shortened, but it didn’t work.

  25. It could have been the end of being made fun of but I guess not.” “Cheer up Misck. You shouldn’t want to change the way you look. You should love and accept yourself. Who cares what the other kids think.” Dot told him. “I guess you’re right Dot. Thanks for cheering me up.” said Misckey. The two skipped happily down to the park to play. Misckey never again worried about the way he looked. Even if he did have a big nose. THE END

  26. He decided to help her out. After all he knew how it felt to be teased. Misckey got up and walked over to the two ants. “Excuse me, but you need to leave Miss Lady Bug alone. You have no right to tease her like that. I think it’d be better if you just went on home.”

  27. The ants scampered angrily away. “Are you ok?” Misckey asked the lady bug. “Yeah, I’m fine. Thank you so much for making them leave. They were just causing trouble.” Misckey walked home proudly. He was proud of what he had done. Now Misckey was no longer ashamed of the way he looked. He didn’t care if people made fun of him anymore. Even if he did have a big nose. THE END

  28. You MUST leave her alone! Misckey decided he shouldn’t say anything to the ants. He might get picked on too. The ladybug’s mom came walking over and asked the ants to leave. They scampered away quickly. Misckey felt bad for not saying anything, so he decided to talk to the lady bug.

  29. “Hi, I’m Misckey. Sorry I didn’t say anything, to those ants for you. I feel bad.” Misckey said. “It’s ok. I wasn’t paying attention to them anyway. But, thank you for thinking of me.” Misckey still felt bad, but he no longer cared what people thought of him. “if that little bug can ignore what other people criticize her for than I can too.” he thought to himself. Misckey decided he would ignore what people thought of him and love himself for who he was. Even if he did have a big nose. THE END

  30. Thank You! I hope you enjoyed your experience!
