  1. Outcome I will explore an ecosystem and determine the energy flow and components of the ecosystem

  2. IB/AP Drill: Describe/Explain the first law of thermodynamics Describe/explain the second law of thermodynamics Describe/Explain Kinetic Energy Create an energy path and describe the energy conversion that takes place at each step.

  3. Energy: First Law of Thermodynamics: Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed. Second Law of Thermodynamics - Increased EntropyThe Second Law of Thermodynamics is commonly known as the Law of Increased Entropy. While quantity remains the same (First Law), the quality of matter/energy deteriorates gradually over time. How so? Usable energy is inevitably used for productivity, growth and repair. In the process, usable energy is converted into unusable energy. Thus, usable energy is irretrievably lost in the form of unusable energy.

  4. Energy:

  5. Bubble Map: Ecosystem

  6. Agenda Review Drill Complete the gizmo /worksheet Complete the quiz(each student must log on and complete the quiz) Complete components of an ecosystem & energy inputs and outputs. Homework: Ecosystems and earth systems
