HIST2530 Web Research • Outcome: a website on a historical topic of their choice, utilising online resources • Series of learning materials guide them through the process • Blog used for their responses / reflection on the learning materials & their project • Social bookmarkingused to collect and share resources • Wiki used to produce the final website
The Student View • Student comments: • Enjoyed intellectual independence • Liked working as a group • Made them think • Score: • 4.6 out of 5 overall • 5 out of 5 in response to ‘Student participation was encouraged’
Tutor’s View • Changed the tutor-student dynamic • Facilitator not a ‘sage on the stage’ • Much more input from the students into the issues for the class • Get to know the students
