  2. Welcome to Tau Beta Pi! • Congratulations on being eligible to join TBP! • Please sign in on the sign in sheet, make sure to include your email and make sure we can read it! • Pizza! • Who Are You? • Name, Major, Year, Fun Fact

  3. Agenda • Welcome! • Requirements • To Become a Member • Additional Information • Life after initiation • Questions?

  4. Requirements for Membership • Must be in the top 1/8 of the junior class or top 1/5 of the senior class. • You have already met this requirement if your name is on the list. • Must be an individual of exemplary character. • This will be determined by the chapter through out the semester.

  5. To Become a Member… • Attend all three (3) of the mandatory events • Attend at least four (4) additional events BEFORE initiation • Complete at least four (4) hours of community service • Pay a one time fee of 110$

  6. Mandatory Events • Interviews • Friday March 5 and Saturday March 6 • Bring with you: • Resume, Cover Letter, Unofficial Transcripts • Check for 110$ • Know the answers to all questions listed on website • Bent Polishing • There will be dates through out the semester, please attend at least one. • Initiation • Friday May 7 6:00pm-8:30pm

  7. Additional Events • There will be a variety of different events on varying days and times through the semester. • Woodstock’s Trivia Night • Bonfires/Barbeques • Beach Cleanups • General Body Meetings • Engineering Futures Workshops • Events will be scheduled soon, please check website and email for updates.

  8. Community Service • Need to complete at least 4 hours • Beach Cleanups with TBP • MindSET work shops with TBP • Anything on your own (just get signature) • Form must be signed and turned in no later than Friday, April 16

  9. One Time Dues • 110 dollar check due at interviews • Make payable to Tau Beta Pi California Xi • Includes: • National Membership Fee • Certificate • Pin • 6 inch mini-bent • T-Shirt • Meetings and event expenses • If you are considering not joining due to financial hardship PLEASE see any of the officers!!!

  10. Pressed for Time? • If you can get one person on the eligibility list (not someone who is already a member) to become a candidate you will only need to make three (3) additional events. • If you get the most additional candidates (minimum of 3) you will get your stoles and chords for FREE the year you graduate.

  11. Other Things • Check the website often for updates! • Please join facebook group “Tau Beta Pi SDSU candidates” and add the officers!  • Respond to event invitations ASAP • Email updates will be sent to you Sunday nights • Please feel free to email any of us or call me with questions

  12. Life After Initiation • In order to remain an active member you will need to attend four (4) total events every semester until you graduate • Being an active member allows you to purchase and wear the Tau Beta Pi stoles and chords at graduation
