This document outlines the various interventions on electrical distribution systems and rack infrastructure, detailing modifications to switchboards, installation of new UPS systems, and refurbishment of cooling turbines across several locations including USA15 and UX15. The modifications aimed to integrate new breakers, enhance control over powering outputs, reduce inrush current, and ensure efficient cooling systems. Impacts of these interventions included supply outages ranging from one day to several weeks across affected areas, crucial for maintaining the integrity of electronic racks and their operations.

Outline • Modifications of switchboards EXD16/15X and EXD26/15X • New UPS in US15 • New switchboards EOD2’/15, ESD2’/15 and EOD5’/15A • New switchboard EOD8/15A • Modifications of repartition boxes in 19 TDAQ ROS racks in USA15 • Refurbishment of cooling turbines in all electronic racks in USA15, US15 and UX15 W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Modifications of switchboards EXD16/15X and EXD26/15X • Goal: to integrate newly added breakers with our monitoring system • Due to lack of space inside those switchboards, one has to move an interlock module outside • Impact: Stop of supply for racks on HOA and HOC for 1 day (November 2013) W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
New UPS in US15 • Goal: to provide smooth supply for electronic racks fed from Normal network in US15 L2 • Up to 10 min of autonomy, no Diesel back-up • Impact: Stop of supply for racks fed from Normal network in US15 during 5 days (9-13 December 2013) W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
New switchboards EOD2’/15, ESD2’/15 and EOD5’/15A • Goal: to provide new type of control over powering outputs • Motorised breakers which keep failing to turn ON when driven from DCS will be replaced by a breaker_+_contactor combo in new switchboards • Impact: Stop of supply for all equipment fed from UPS and Diesel switchboards EOD2/15, ESD2/15 and EOD5/15A for ~ 4 weeks (> March 2014) • EOD2/15: ID heaters, Muons, DCS station, Pixel-DCS, SCT-DCS • ESD2/15: Sniffers, DSS station • EOD5/15A: Muons, Larg cooling station, ID heaters, ID evaporative cooling W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
New switchboard EOD8/15A • Goal: to provide UPS power for new installations in USA15 • Impact: Stop of systems running on temporary supply when connecting them to this new switchboard (> March 2014) • IBL cooling, new racks, Tile cooling station, Larg cooling station (moved from EOD5/15A), Turbo pump .. W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Modifications of repartition boxes in 19 TDAQ ROS racks in USA15 • Goal: to reduce inrush current when powering racks ON • Impact: Stop of supply in each concerned rack for 1 day (> March 2014) W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Refurbishment of cooling turbines in all electronic racks in UX15, USA15 and US15 (1) • Goal: preventive change of motor+fan modules inside turbines due to projected end-of-life of bearings • Impact in UX15: Stop of supply in each switchboard supplying a group of racks for ~ 1 day • HOA (5 turbines): 1 day • HOC (5 turbines): 1 day W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Refurbishment of cooling turbines in all electronic racks in USA15, US15 and UX15 (2) • Impact in UX15 (cont’d) • HS USA side (23 turbines): 5 days • Ground floor: 1 day • 1st floor: 1 day • 2nd floor: 1 day • 4th floor: 1 day • 7th & 8th floor: 1 day W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Refurbishment of cooling turbines in all electronic racks in USA15, US15 and UX15 (3) • Impact in UX15 (cont’d) • HS US side (17 turbines): 4 days • Ground floor: 1 day • 1st floor: 1 day • 2nd floor: 1 day • 7th & 8th floor: 1 day W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Refurbishment of cooling turbines in all electronic racks in USA15, US15 and UX15 (4) • Impact in UX15 (cont’d) • BWA (16 turbines): 3 days • BWC (16 turbines) : 3 days W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
Refurbishment of cooling turbines in all electronic racks in USA15, US15 and UX15 (5) • Impact in USA15 L1 (65 turbines), USA15 L2 (70 turbines) and US15 L2 (28 turbines): Stop of supply in each concerned rack for ~ 1 hour W.iwanski PH/ESE-BE
