  1. Changes to Certified Evaluations By the end of this presentation, you will… Understand why the district is changing its evaluation process. Understand how the district is proposing to implement the State required changes to non-administrative certified evaluations. Be asked to provide feedback on the proposed changes.

  2. Summary of Changes: A Comparison

  3. Why Change Evaluations? During the 2010-11 legislative session, legislators adopted Tom Luna’s Students Come First plan which included changes to Idaho Code 33-514

  4. What Changes Did the Legislature Make to Certified Evaluations? Starting during the 2012-13 school year, an evaluation will consist of two parts: • 50% is to be based on Charlotte Danielson’s Professional Practice Framework (our current model is based on this framework). • Must be completed by Feb. 1 of each year • 50% is to be based on “objective measures of growth in student achievement.” • Must be completed prior to the end of the school year

  5. What Changes Did the Legislature Make to Certified Evaluations? • Parent input must be consideredas a part of the Part I of the Evaluation

  6. How Is the District Proposing to Implement the Changes? • Working collaboratively, KEA leadership and administrators worked together to develop the draft plan. • The committee used much of the current Master Contract for the proposed plan.

  7. How Is the District Proposing to Implement the Changes? • Continue to use Danielson’s Professional Practice Framework with these changes/additions: • All non-administrative certified staff will be evaluated using the job appropriate Framework rubric. • A short survey will be available to families electronically; principals will use this information and other documentation to complete section “4A” of the evaluation. • The “distinguished” category has been eliminated. • The required formal observation process was eliminated for employees with four or more years of experience. • Completed by Feb. 1

  8. How Is the District Proposing to Implement the Changes? • Modify the existing Professional Action Plan to include “objective measures of growth in student achievement.” Now called Student Achievement Plan. • Work with their team and administrator to develop plan • Document plan in Student Achievement Plan template
