  1. MAGE : PBJ Google - - Jon Kropp (Project Manager), Jeff Blount(Lead Engineer), Brian Gaglio, Scott Gray, Eric Kent, and Tyler Kimsey • What is it? • The PBJ is a weapon designed to be used with OSU’s MAGE system. It is both a bombing and a jamming device. The user selects the mode, function, and sets a timer on the wristband. The control signals are then sent to the PBJ where the signals are used to activate the weapon. When in bombing mode, the PBJ emits Infrared (IR) packets to damage or kill enemies in the bombing radius. In Jamming mode the PBJ transmits a signal via XBEE to the MAGE server that will jam any weapon surrounding the PBJ. • Technical Features • Two modes: Bomb and Jam • Three ways to detonate: Motion, Push-Button, and Timer • Communication between the wristband and PBJ is done directly via CANbus for debugging purposes or over the MAGE server via XBEE • Damage is done by emitting IR packets • Jamming is done by sending a predetermined jamming signal through XBEE to the MAGE server • Visual indicators show the countdown timer and which mode the device is in • Audio sounds indicate when the device is going off Functional Block Diagram • Design Process • Identify a problem and define solution requirements • Break problem into smaller pieces • Research all possible solutions • Design all pieces to solution • Prove functionality of each piece separately • Integrate all pieces into working unit Conclusion The PBJ is a final project in Senior Design I and is designed to familiarize students with the design process. Throughout the project students become familiar with different design manufacturing processes like milling, etching, and soldering as well as testing and measurement techniques. Multisim, Ultiboard, and MPLAB are the software packages that are used to design circuits and program the microcontrollers. The project gives the students a chance to gain valuable hands on experience from conception to the final product.
