DEFINITION • It’s a firm which employs more than 300 employees. • At the beginning, most of the large firm were medium-sized business. • The growth is by acquisition when separate businesses join together via either a merger or a takeover. • In the company, contractors never work in the same market.

TYPES OF GROUPING • Functional: the company is divided into departments • Product/Service: the company specializes in a product • Geographical: the company has a regional structure • Customer: the company offers services at particular customers • Capital: the company has large investments • Project: this grouping typifies traditional“building contractor”
