  1. Akibat Doyan HAM Gara-gara membela HAM (Hak Asasi Manusia), Gus Dur sempat menyemprot Abdul Gafur. Ini terjadi tatkala Abdul Gafur sebagai tokoh Golkar, menolak pencantuman HAM ke dalam draft GBHN (Garis-garis Besar Haluan Negara) yang diajukan Wanhankamnas. Gus Dur mengaku heran atas penolakan tersebut. “Lho, gimana Golkar ini? Eksekutif saja bisa menerima HAM, contohnya dengan membentuk Komnas HAM,” pikir Gus Dur menemui Gafur. Karena jengkelnya dan muring-muring, Gus Dur menemui Gafur. “Itu, lho, kalau kakean mangan (kebanyakan makan) ‘Ham’. Akibatnya, menolak HAM masuk GBHN,” kata Gus Dur pada Gafur. ‘Ham’ yang dimaksud Gus Dur adalah roti yang di dalamnya ada (isi) daging babinya. “Saya teriak, lalu semua ikut-ikut teriak. Lalu Harmoko membantah, bahwa Golkar tidak pernah merasa keberatan dengan HAM. Ini artinya, bahwa penolakan tersebut hanya pendapat dari Gafur sendiri.”
