This document outlines the current status and future plans for the MicroMEGAS chamber preparation presented by Atsuhiko Ochi at the ATLAS MicroMEGAS meeting on November 6, 2012. The setup has been assembled with a focus on screen printing, showing successful beta source signal detection and stable current measurements. Future test plans at CERN include testing with a parasite beam, analyzing position and timing resolution with various voltages, and comparing data to existing models. Assistance from beam experts is sought for an effective test phase.

Screen printing MM test, current status and plans Atsuhiko Ochi Kobe University 6, November 2012 ATLAS MicroMEGAS meeting
Status of chamber preparation • Screen printing – MM has already been assembled with gas package. • Readout : 1-Dimensional, 400um pitch • Gas gap : ~ 100 um (estimated) • Drift length : ~ 1cm • Operation test • Gas: Ar:C2H6 (7:3) • Signal of beta source (90Sr) were observed • No HV current found (<10nA) • At first, in the burn-in stage, we found steady current of a few micro ampere. • Estimated gain … a few thousand • Vstrip = +520V, Vdrift = -1kV • We need to reduce the nise. A. Ochi, Kobe Univ.
Test plan at CERN • Site of the test • H6 test bench, using parasite beam • Schedule • Because of administration work, we will be ready to enter the test beam site from 14th November. • We will check position/timing resolution for various voltages of strips and drift plane. • We will take a data for comparing to existing MMs. • Estimated test term is one week • Maximum, 2 weeks. • Ochi and Edo will join from Kobe. • We need helps from test beam experts. • Materials to be need • Readout: Two APV25 cards and their readout system • HV supplies (Positive and Negative) • Gas system A.
