  1. Bear Essentials for Senior Year Class of 2013

  2. Review your Transcript • Is your lane correct? • Will you have the correct number of credits in each subject area? • Are you enrolled in the classes you need to graduate (checklist)? • How many credits will you have by the end of your senior year? • Have you passed ECA’s?

  3. The Diploma. . . . In order to graduate and receive a diploma: 1. You must have 41 Core Credits & pass both the English 10 and Algebra ECA. or 2. You must have 41 Core Credits, a 95% attendance rate and qualify in accordance to the waiver work sheet. See your counselor if you have concerns regarding your ability to graduate!

  4. Have you taken the SAT or ACT? • It is VERY IMPORTANT that every college bound senior has taken one or both of these tests. If you haven’t already taken the ACT or SAT and plan on attending college sign-up NOW so that you can have your scores back in time to meet college admissions and scholarship deadlines.

Register on line • SAT:www.collegeboard.org (register for the SAT reasoning test, not the subject tests) • ACT: www.actstudent.org (remember to register for ACT writing) • CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL CODE 150955 • Practice tests can be found on line or in the guidance office. • Waivers are available if you are on F/R lunch and can not afford the test • ACT + Writing $50.50 SAT Reasoning test $50

New Security Requirements for ACT/SAT Students will be required to provide the name of their attending high school during registration.  Once SAT registration opens for the 2012-13 school year, registrations submitted without attending high school will not be processed. Students will be required to submit a current, recognizable photo during registration that will be included on a new photo admission ticket.   Students registering online will be required to upload a digital photo. Students registering by mail will be required to enclose a photo with the paper registration form.

  10. Standby (walk-in) testing will no longer be permitted.  • Students will be required to present their photo admission ticket for admittance to their designated test center. • Students who registered online will be able to print out their admission ticket by logging onto their online College Board account. • Students who registered by mail can choose to have the admission ticket mailed or emailed prior to test day. • Students arriving at the test center without both their photo admission ticket and an acceptable form of photo ID will not be admitted to the test center. • Test-takers will be subject to additional ID checks throughout test day. Test-takers will be required to present both their photo admission ticket and an acceptable form of photo ID: • Upon entry to test center • Upon entry to their test room • Upon reentry to their test room following breaks • Upon collection of their answer sheet

  12. College Bound Students • Apply to College- first semester if possible before December 1st to qualify for some scholarships (Nov 1st for Purdue) • Fill out FAFSA and submit online before March 10th. Must have tax information to fill out form. • Most Scholarships are advertised in the spring.

  13. Submitting a College Application Make sure to sign a “Release of Information “ Applications can be submitted on line or a paper application can be submitted by mail. Most EVSC transcripts will be submitted via Parchment *please allow 5 days for processing. *10 days if you need a recommendation .

  14. Parchment • Most Central transcripts to colleges will be sent via Parchment. • We will help you to log on to Parchment at the end of this meeting. If you are under the age of 18 your parent will need sign off on your parchment request.

  15. FYI • Please apply to the college before you request a transcript through Parchment. • Central’s Profile is also sent with Parchment • The college will review your application and either Admit, Deny or keep application Deferred. • Be aware that some scholarship deadlines are early. Always check the college’s website to see when individual deadlines are. • College may ask for a 7th semester transcript so make sure to keep up with your grades.

  16. Clearinghouse/NCAA/NAIA • Register with the clearinghouse to find out if you are academically eligible. • Go to http://eligibilitycenter.orgfor NCAA Division I or II sports • Click on Fall 2011 or after • Click on the phone icon to register • Go to http://www.playnaia.org for NAIA sports they will begin taking applications Sept.1 • See your counselor with any questions. • Send your ACT/SAT scores directly to NCAA (9999).

  17. Senior Calendar/ Scholarship Reports • Please fill out a cover sheet if you are applying for a scholarship. See Mrs. Stewart for a cover sheet • Turn in all scholarship applications directly to YOUR counselor. • Updated monthly • Posted on Central’s website • ANGEL • Like our Central Counselor Page on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @centralguidance for up to date scholarship information and other news.

  18. College Visits • College reps visit Central so watch the Daily bulletin/Angel/FB/Twitter for times and location of visits you are interested in. A list will also be posted on the guidance department window. • Permission slips are available from Mrs. Stewart, have classroom teacher sign the form. • Take the time to make a campus visit!

  19. Senior College Wall • When you are accepted to a college please bring your acceptance letter to the counseling office so that Mrs. Woebkenberg can post your name on the college wall • under the college’s banner!

  20. College and Career Lab • Need help finding a College Application? • Need information regarding a College? • Need a Scholarship Application? • Need help with Parchment? Help is available in the College and Career Lab! Ask Mrs. Stewart for a request form. The Lab is located in the counseling hallway.
