The ISOLDE target unit features a robust design with seven inlets, catering to essential functions such as ion source gas leakage and chimney/transfer line heating. The interface accommodates up to four thermocouples, ensuring precise temperature control. To enhance safety, a minimum of five thermocouples is required for effective monitoring. Additional features include flow rate measurement at the irradiation chamber entrance using a Venturi tube, pressure monitoring in the pump, and leak detection in the diffusion chamber. An interlock system will be implemented to halt proton beam operations in the event of flow failure.
