  1. Long Beach School District Stakeholder Survey Results Results from 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 Parent, Student, and Staff Surveys

  2. Stakeholder Surveys • During the Fall-Spring Semesters of the 2013-2014 school year, students, parents, and staff participated in the AdvancED Stakeholder Surveys online. They were invited to participate at home, and laptops were provided at each school site to give everyone an additional way to participate in the surveys. Letters were sent home and the surveys were also posted on each school and the district front page website with links to the surveys. • Throughout the month of August, 2014, students, parents, and staff participated in the AdvancED Stakeholder Surveys online.   3. Participation Rates: • In both stakeholder surveys, in each school, we had a minimum of the following participation rates: • Parent Surveys 20% • Student Surveys 40% • Staff Surveys 60%

  4. Areas of Highest Level of Satisfaction • Overall Indicator 4.3 was rated the highest on the Parent, Staff, and Middle/High School Student Surveys. Indicator 4.3 states: The system maintains facilities, services and equipment to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for all students and staff.

Indicators with High Rankings • Indicator 1.1 (Early Elementary and Elementary Student Surveys) “The system engages in a systematic, inclusive and comprehensive process to review, revise and communicate a system-wide purpose for student success. • Indicator 1.2 (Parent and Staff Surveys) “The system ensures that each school engages in a systematic, inclusive and comprehensive process to review, revise and communicate a school purpose for student success.” • Indicator 1.3 (Parent Survey) “The school leadership and staff at all levels of the system commit to a culture that is based on shared values and beliefs about teaching and learning and supports challenging, equitable educational programs and learning experiences for all students that include achievement of learning, thinking and life skills.”

Indicators with High Rankings • Indicator 2.1 (Staff Surveys) “The governing body establishes policies and support practices that ensure effective administration of the system and its schools.” • 2.4 (Early Elementary Surveys) “Leadership and staff at all levels of the system foster a culture consistent with the system’s purpose and direction.”

Indicators with High Rankings • 3.4 (Elementary Student Surveys) “System and school leaders monitor and support the improvement of instructional practices of teachers to ensure student success.” • 3.8 (Early Elementary Student Surveys) “The system and all of its schools engage families in meaningful ways in their children’s education and keep them informed of their children’s learning progress.”

Indicators with High Rankings • 4.1 (Middle/High School Student Surveys) “The system engages in a systematic process to recruit, employ and retain a sufficient number of qualified professional and support staff to fulfill their roles and responsibilities and support the purpose and direction of the system, individual schools and educational programs.” • 4.3 (Parent, Staff, Middle/High School Student Surveys) Highest ranked indicator “The system maintains facilities, services and equipment to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for all students and staff.” • 4.4 (Early Elementary and Elementary Student Surveys) “The system demonstrates strategic resource management that includes long-range planning in support of the purpose and direction of the system.”

  9. Indicators with High Rankings • 5.4 (Middle/High School Students) “The school system engages in a continuous process to determine verifiable improvement in student learning, including readiness for and success at the next level.”

  10. Areas with the Lowest Level of Satisfaction • Indicator 2.2 was the only score drop from the 2013-2014 to 2014-2015 Parent Surveys “The governing body operates responsibly and functions effectively.” • Indicator 4.5 was the only score drop from the 2013-2014 to 2014-2015 Early Elementary Student Surveys “The system provides, coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of information resources and related personnel to support educational programs throughout the system.” • Indicator 3.2 was the only score drop from the 2013-2014 to 2014-2015 Elementary Student Surveys “Curriculum, instruction and assessment throughout the system are monitored and adjusted systematically in response to data from multiple assessments of student learning and an examination of professional practice.” There were no drops in any indicator scores on the Staff or Middle/High School Surveys

Implications of Stakeholder Perceptions • In comparing the data from the 2013-2014 stakeholder survey responses to the 2014-2015 stakeholder responses, there were no areas showing a trend of decreasing stakeholder satisfaction. In fact, almost every indicator saw an increase in stakeholder satisfaction. The implications are that parents, students, and staff overall are satisfied with all the indicators listed under each standard for school success.

  12. Score Summaries of Stakeholder Surveys 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 **Early Elementary and Elementary Student Scores are based on a 3 point scale while the other surveys are based on a 5 point scale.
