  1. TIDAL AND WAVES NRG BY: Alexia Jiménez, María Emilia Buitrón, Andrea Salgado

  2. DESCRIPTION OF THE ENERGY • Tidal and wave energy, is a form of hydropower that converts the energy of tides into electricity or other type of forms of energy. • The mechanical energy that the waves and tidal use is movement. • This type of energy is renewable. • We have to set up this energy source in ecuador for the country to develop more.

  3. History of the energy source • Tidal and waves energy are not a very new invention they exist from many year ago. Girard Messers from Paris in 1799 creates a new type of raft that was very similar to a buoy but it works different. • Since 1970’s the research started in many countries

  4. Where and how the energy source is used today • When you go to the beach and the waves and tides are strong

  5. Where the energy source is found and how it is recovered/harnessed • Its recoverd by the water turbines. • This energy can be change first to motion. After this the water passes trough the compartment pushing the air and it makes the generator move and produce electricity.

  6. How energy is stored in the source and how the energy is released • The wave energy is stored by the sun. and the tidal energy is stored by the moon.

  7. Advantages of the energy source • 1.The positive things about tidal and waves energy • is that the earth is covered with the 71% of water. • 2.This type of energy doesn't need fuels to work so this doesn't contaminate. • 3. Finally, it exist a lot of water in the earth this type of energy will last a long time.

  8. Disadvantages of the energy source • 1.Tidal only happen twice a day, is a very short time for getting energy. • 2. One consequence is that this energy can only be constructed in places that have sources of water, like in the Coast of Ecuador • 3.The construction of the generator is really expensive.

  9. Economic impacts of the energy source • this energy is interacting in the environmental area because it doesn't contaminated. It benefit us because it give as benefits such us light power and many things more.

  10. Future of the energy source • The future if the tidal and wave energy is unlimited because the water never finish • For a future of this energy we need to keep clean the oceans and seas • They will be better generators and will produce more energy to use • To have a better energy source we need to sart from now to keep clean the water.

  11. Other interesting facts about the energy source • Tidal energy is one of the oldest forms of energy, it has been known from men since 787 A.D. • Unfortunately the turbines can lead to altering the ecosystem and also can lead to displacement of the home of many animals. • Also, the speed of the tides cannot be controlled or increased. • One good thing about the tides of the ocean is that they are active and function for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
