Why should they care? • Remember who they are! • What does this mean to them? • Natural affinity for science or just curious • The “Worrier” • Affects their lives i.e. • Can’t go somewhere; friends, mall, school • Their environment is uncomfortable; too cold too hot • Can’t buy new jeans, CD etc due to increase in family expenses.

  3. Involving Youth • Incorporate NRG ED into 4-H projects • Recruiting the “want to know “ kind of young person; i.e. science club, environmentalist. • Partnering with existing youth groups; after school and out of school programs, formal classrooms, and home school groups etc.

  4. National Initiative • NASULGC + D.O.E. • NEED National Energy Education Development

  5. NEED The mission of the National Energy Education Development Project is to promote an energy conscious and educated society by creating effective networks of students, educators, business, government and community leaders to design and deliver objective, multisided energy education programs.

  6. Youth Center Curriculums • Three Units • Heat & Heating • Light & Lighting • Energy in Motion • 8-10 hands on lessons/activities per unit.
