  2. feup: identity • more than 80 years of history: Faculdade de Engenharia is the largest school of Universidade do Porto, and has significant autonomy; since 2000, feup has moved to a brand new campus, just outside the city centre, in eastern Porto, Portugal.

  3. feup: identity we put our money where our knowledge is: a 90.000m² campus, with excellent infrastructures. The campus conveys a 8-floor library with 500 reading spots and work cabinets, 9 departments, 25 computer rooms equipped with 500 computers, among other facilities and class rooms;

  4. feup: growth • it’s all been worth it: with a total investment of 8 million € in the last years feup has kept a steady pace towards excellence and innovation, namely: dozens of spin-offs, active or pending patent and brands, and R&D units which involve 80% of the faculty;

  5. feup: performance • knowledge is our business: feup has adapted its courses to Bologna and currently offers a solid project of graduate and postgraduate education : • 3 undergraduate courses (1st Cycle), 2 of which are in cooperation • 9 integrated master in engineering (1st + 2nd Cyles) • 8 MSc programmes (2nd Cycle) • 18 PhD programmes (3rd Cycle)

  7. feup: performance • thriving for a better world: feup firmly believes that knowledge enhances its power through its investment on research and development – our research clusters indicate a rich spectrum of focus areas: energy&environment, transports&communications, electronics&computing and health&life sciences, among others.

  8. feup: performance • building bridges, in and out: feup provides significant support to the community, especially in close cooperation with national industry; a wide range of services is offered, such as: software and prototypes development, expert consulting, technical and economic feasibility studies, chemical analysis and other laboratory support services. feup also holds, on campus, several international scientific events each year.

  25. feup: a nest for the best • TECHNOLOGIES / SPIN-OFFs Inspired by the way natural structures work (Biomimicry), specifically the human muscle, the Organic PreStressing System is a set of cables, hydraulic jacks, sensors and other components, that are attached to self-launching gantries (large, heavy equipment used in bridge construction), performing in order to compensate the charges the metallic structure is subject to.

  31. feup: a nest for the best TECHNOLOGIES / SPIN-OFFs Launched on the Portuguese market in 2007, the new Super Bock alcohol-free beer is the result of an innovative patent pending production process, developed in a partnership of Unicer with the Chemical Engineering department of the School of Engineering (FEUP). This new process keeps all the original flavour of the beer with the convenience of a 0º alcohol graduation.
