  2. All about Chlamydia • It is a Bacterium STI (STD) • Produces inflammation of sexual (reproductive) organs • We reached 1,000,000 cases in Chlamydia here in the US in 2007 – USA Today Article • If left untreated, Males and females may experience different symptoms.

  3. Diagnosis Other Tests Urine Samples For the swabs, they get the specimen, then send it to a lab to be checked.

  4. Male Symptoms • These symptoms are fore males. They have less of them then women.

  5. Female Symptoms These symptoms are for women – whom have more symptoms then men

  6. If left Untreated - Males • The only thing that can happen if left untreated for guys… • Inflammation of urethra and epididymis.

  7. If left Untreated - Females • Infection of urethra • Inflammation of cervix • Can also lead to PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease)

  9. Means of Transmission • A person can get Chlamydia by… • Vaginal Intercourse • Anal Intercourse • And Oral Intercourse

  10. Treatment • According to the CDC, Chlamydia can be treated and cured by antibiotics: • Azithromycin • Doxycycline • Also according to the CDC, 95% of people are cured after 1 week of antibiotics.

  11. How to protect against Chlamydia • Choose Abstinence!!! • If you choose to be sexual active – USE A CONDOM!!!!
