John Steinbeck • In 1943 he served as a World War ll war correspondent. • In March 1943 he divorced his wife Carol and Married Gwyn Conger. • In 1967 he went to Vietnam to report on the war.
History of Salinas • Means “ Salt Marsh” • It was founded in 1822 after Mexico seceded form Spain and began granting rancho lands. • The land was first occupied by the Esselen Indian. • Between 200 and 500 AD the land was taken by the Runsen who knew Spanish speaking people. • In 1850 California offical became a state.
