  1. ALLABOUTME Children’s book store What happens to children’s artwork? Do all children, find it fun to read/write? My business will guide children through the writing/publishing process of a book. While at the same time helping them value their artwork and possibly become better readers and writers. My business will also provide great Christmas/birthday gifts for those that are hard to shop for.

  2. The Solution I have come up with isInternet web-site:Children send artwork, stories, and picture to me through internet.I use all their work (including their very own hand writing) and I will create a hard cover book for them (and send it to them).Migrate into a bigger storePartner with a local book store, (more than likely Barns n Noble). Pay them “rent” for each month. Create my business in the book store, exactly like the internet set-up. It also allows children to see how the books are made and created.

  3. Business model • Plan to Sell sell sell books created by the children themselves. (that I published) • Advertise my product to my target market, which in my case would be Mothers Fathers Grandparents Aunts and Uncles of ages 2-10 children. • Let the children/people in my target market participate in the book making/publishing process.

  4. Cost • My product will come in many different options: Hard cover, or soft, and big medium or small books. • Big books 20-25 pages $50.00 (soft cover) • Medium books 15-19 pages 40.00 (soft cover) • Small books 10-14 pages 30.00(soft cover) • To add a hard cover to any book, add an additional 15.00.

  5. Underlying Magic/technology • Melissa Torgerson, owner and founder • Working with young children for eight years now • Knows what to expect for artwork, pictures, and stories • Knows what children ages 2-10 can produce. • Has been working 6 plus year with the publishing software and technologies . • Has a degree in graphic design, which is a positive to the creative side to the business. (it will especially help in the store where the is possible contact with the child.

  6. MARKTING AND SALES • Make a couple display books, for school and daycares. • Billboard/television ads (locally) • Radio/Internet ads. • Hit My target Market (promote more over the holidays).

  7. Competition • Scholastic book orders in school. • Kodak ( personalized books). • Local children’s book stores.

  8. TEAM • I am a very strong owner. I for the first year plan to run my business with one or two other part-time employees. • Later I plan to hire more people and possibly expand even more. I would then expand into a kiosk in a local mall. So later on I would have to hire more knowledgeable staff as well.

  9. Money projections All about me’s start-up costs will include all the equipment needed for the home/localrented spotsoffice, legal fees, website/internet and start-up advertising. The home and office equipment will be the largest chunk of the start-up expenses. Total start-up costs will consist of publishing equipment, a computer system, office/business supplies, display books installation of a broadband connection, and furniture expenses. Total expenses are expected to be 28,000, which will be provided through Melissa Torgerson’s family equity.

  10. Financials The break-even analysis indicated that All About Me will need to sell approx. $4,900 per month to break even. All About Me expects to earn approx. $14,000 in year two and $21,000 in year three.

  11. Current Status/Timeline • Once my business on the internet is up and running, I then plan to start looking for a book store that will contract with me and run my internet business (from my home) while my spot is being created. • I just started my online business, which should be complete within the next two week. At the same time I plan to start making plans for my rented space. • I project my store to take about a month to be produced and up and running. • Once both are up and running I will then work out of my area in the book store, as well as take distant and close customers through my web-site. • Currently I am working on the internet side of the business

  12. This in an awesome gift to get the person that is hard to buy for. Or possibly might “have everything already”. These books are great keep sakes that will never get old to look at over and over again!!
