This initiative focuses on equipping states with essential resources for high-quality, content-based professional development in mathematics. We aim to integrate tools such as Illustrative Mathematics, Progressions, and our developed modules. By connecting states to successful resources utilized by peers, identifying gaps in available professional development, and organizing targeted workshops, we strive to empower state math leaders. Additionally, we seek to address specific mathematical needs related to the Common Core while exploring other areas of necessity as implementation progresses.

MATH SCASS goals • Provide states with resources for high quality content-based professional development, including ways of using Illustrative Mathematics, the Progressions, and the modules we have developed; connect states to resources used by other states • Help states identify needed resources for high quality content-based professional development that are not currently available, and work on securing or producing these resources • Hold workshops for state Math and/or PD leaders to help them identify what PD for the Common Core should look like, with a special one-day add-on for SCASS members • Serve state mathematical needs, especially in connection to the Common Core; identify other areas of need as states work on implementing the Common Core
