  1. Library Orientation Welcome to George C. Carlos Library Woodward Academy

  2. George C. Carlos Library Dedicated October 20, 1995 to provide materials and services that support and enrich Woodward Academy’s curriculum

  3. Library Hours • George C. Carlos Library is open to students and faculty when Woodward Academy is in session. • Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM • Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  4. Policies • Students must have an ID photo on file to check out materials. • Water bottles allowed. • Please maintain quiet. • Computers for research only. • Students allowed on second floor when accompanied by a teacher.

  5. Check-out Procedures • Check out at main circulation desk with ID photo on file. • 1 to 6 regular books for 3-week periods. • Late fines $.05/ day per book. • Overdue notices sent to homerooms daily. Detention hours given for failure to clear library obligations. • Electronic security system will sound if materials are not properly checked out at the circulation desk.

  6. Overnight Check-out • Reference materials, magazines, and overnight books may be checked out after school hours for 1 night. • 2 overnight materials at a time. • Overnight check-outs due the next morning before homeroom. • Late fines for overnight materials $.25/period per item.

  7. Online Catalog • On the George C. Carlos Library web page, click on Online Catalog to find books in our library. • Search by Title, Author, or Subject. • Status of book (in or checked out) is available on search results.

  8. Library Databases • Databases are subscription reference services available to Woodward students. • Access databases on Carlos Library web page. • Passwords required. • See librarians for passwords.

  9. Databases Available Student Resources in Context - Reference, Magazines, Primary Sources, etc. Biography in Context -References about famous people Literary Reference Center -Authors and critiques Ebrary - Digital library with thousands of e-books

  10. Databases Academic OneFile - Full text articles from journals and reference resources Encyclopedia Britannica - Full text encyclopedia with photos and web links Salem Literature - E-book literature references from Salem Press Salem History - E-book history references from Salem Press

  11. Databases Axis 360 - Digital library to download books to your own device GALILEO - Georgia’s Virtual Library with over 70 databases Opposing Viewpoints in Context- Issues in current events

  14. Internet • Internet access available on all library computers. • Wireless access available in library. • Internet resources linked by subject at right of Carlos Library web page. Look here for specific links for class assignments.

  15. Other Services • Copier ($.10/page) • Color printers ($.10/page) • Scanners ($.10/page) • Kindles available for checkout
