  2. Informal Letter • Letter to a close friend or any relative

  3. Standard Format • Write your address on the top left side of the page; • Under the address (on left side), write date – use word like October instead of 10; • Leave one space and then write Salutation on the left followed by the name of receiver, e.g. – Hi Rahul/ Dear father; • Write introduction, main body and conclusion/closing • End the letter with words like With love/ All Best/Your’s loving/Best Regards followed by your name on the bottom left side OR simply write your name • Word limit – 150-180 words (sometimes even more depends on the context)

Opening Expressions How to start an informal letter • How are you? • Hope you are doing well. • Hope this letter finds you in the pink of your health. • How have you been? • I hope you are doing fine. • Hope all would be well at your front. • What’s new? Reason one is writing this letter • I am writing because…. • The reason I am writing this letter to you is….. • I wanted to tell/inform/ask you… • I would like to tell/inform/ask you….

Opening Expressions When we answer any informal letter (depends on context) • Thanks for your letter • It was nice to hear from you • Glad to hear from you after a long time • Sorry for not writing earlier/ responding late • I hope you and your family are well Responding to news • Glad to hear that…. • Sorry to hear about… • Hope you would recover/feel better soon…. • Good luck with…
