  3. Application of VKR If there are terms you as a teacherbelieve are vital to the concepts used in a unit, use this strategy! It will allow you to ensure students are grasping the foundations of the lesson and can improve upon their knowledge using these key phrases.

  4. When Can We Use VKR? Vocabulary Knowledge Ratings should be used at the beginning of a unit to gauge what students may already know, half way through a unit in order to gauge what students may still need some review on, and at the very end of the unit, possibly as a test review, in order to make any final clarifications

  5. Why Does VKR Work? • Gives students insight to important concepts they will need for the unit • Allows students and teacher to place emphasis on certain terms in the unit • Alerts teacher as to what terms need more time for mastery • Exposes students to terms multiple times to ensure they will grasp concepts
