  3. About the query The survey was conducted between 21st November, 2013- 24th April, 2014. The survey was disseminated to 27 members of EMTA, 24 agencies responded (Copenhagen, Warsaw, Barcelona, Prague, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Birmingham, Helsinki, Berlin, Rotterdam , Vilnius, Turin, Madrid, Budapest, Brussel, Vienna, Stockholm, Oslo, Frankfurt, Bilbao, Sevilla, Stuttgart, Lyon). This resulted in a record score on any query in EMTA- 89% response rate. The survey was conducted on behalf of agencies from three cities: Berlin, Madrid and Vilnius.

  4. Aims of the query To find out rules and regulations regarding the bicycle carriage onto PT in various cities across Europe. To see if cities impose certain limits on bicycle carriage on PT, i.e time-limitations and route-limitations. To learn whether there is an extra charge for such permit. To find out about the regulation of bicycle storage during a trip.

  6. Do you permit cycle carriage on PT? Berlin is the only city that forbids the carriage of folded bikes.

  7. Are there time-limitations for carry on bike transport? 15 cities forbid the carriage of bikes during peak hours* *Peak hours vary from 6a.m to 9:30a.m and from 3p.m to 8:30p.m

  8. Are there route-limitations for carry on bike transport? Most of the cities do not have route-limitations for bike carriage

  9. Do you have special compartments or designated places where bikes must be held during a trip? Mots of the cities require bicycles to be stored in specific places or compartments.

  10. Is there an extra charge for bikes carriage? Extra charge varies between the cities. 13 cities out of 24 have an extra charge on bikes carriage.

  11. Segway and kicktrike Majority of the cities indicated that they do not have a specific strategy towards segway and kicktrike, as these are rare in the cities. Berlin is the only city that considers to permit segway/kicktrike on PT. In Stuttgart Segways or Kicktrikes are treated as accompanied luggage.
