  3. Colossians 1:4-5a (NAS) “since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints; because of the hope laid up for you in heaven,”

  4. History of Colossian Church Vs. 3-8 • Vs. 3 – Paul establishes his authority and the position of Christ • Vs. 4-5a – Reasons for his prayer • Their faith • Their love • Their hope “METONYMY” for reward

  5. Colossians 1:5b (NAS) “of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel …”
