In FY2010, DTC will provide comprehensive support for several critical systems including WRF (NMM, ARW, WPS), WPP, HWRF, GSI, and MET. The support includes user assistance through help desks, tutorials, and documentation, as well as repository maintenance and pre-release testing. Key activities involve collaboration with NCAR/MMM and NCEP/EMC, finalizing scientific documentation for WRF-NMM, and supporting WRF workshops. Ongoing issues such as the frozen state of NMM and software management planning for WPP will also be addressed, ensuring robust user support and operational configuration testing.

Community Code Support • In FY2010, DTC will provide support for the following systems: • WRF (NMM, ARW, WPS) • WPP (WRF post-processing) • HWRF (NMM, Tracker, POM, coupler) • GSI • MET • Taskincludes: user support (in the form of Help Desks, tutorials and documentation), pre-release testing, repository maintenance
WRF/WPP • Continue to provide support for WRF-NMM, and WPP, in collaboration with NCAR/MMM and NCEP/EMC. • Support WRF tutorials, WRF workshop. • Work with EMC to finalize WRF-NMM scientific documentation. • Become familiar with NMM-B code. • Consider sending a scientist to EMC for extended visit • Issues: • NMM is frozen. Need to minimize changes. • Need to establish a software management plan for WPP • Code version control – one version for all supported applications • EMC point of contact for user support • Planning for transition to Unified Post Processor
Test and Evaluation Activities • WRF related tests: • Core tests – finish publications • Vertical levels test – prepare final report • Reference Configurations • Sponsor requested tests • Operational Configurations • Community Contributed Reference Configurations • Number of supported configurations will depend on level of funding • Distribute information/results to community through the DTC website • NAM-GFS precipitation forecast comparison • Demonstrate advanced verification techniques in MET • HFIP High-Resolution Hurricane – publications • AFWA GSI baseline test
