Goals/ Objectives • to form young people into discipleship and into the life & mission of the Catholic Church • to empower young people to make a difference in the world through Catholic Social Teachings • to commit to a life of ministry and action through various outreach initiatives in service to our local communities • to identify young leaders in both our Catholic secondary schools and parishes i.e. youth groups, social justice teams, prayer groups, etc. that will assist in the education and development of social outreach initiatives

Goals/ Objectives- con’t • to connect young people to Marygrove Camp- Girls summer camp and Youth Leadership Centre for Social Justice • to connect young people to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help assist in the area of Special Works in local community • to connect young people to the Archdiocese of Toronto, specifically their local parish, in efforts to continue their works of social justice in the local parish community

Resource Manual Description • a formative and straightforward manual which focuses on individual gifts through Catholic social teachings and social action • a calendar of events/ activities that outline the liturgical calendar and academic school year • an outline of easy to use Catholic resources that highlight social justice teachings found in the Catechism, CCCB, Catholic articles, websites, and scriptural texts and themes • outreach opportunities and services that will help locally developed programs continue to serve those in need

  5. Social Justice Retreat Model • to assist secondary schools in social justice formation and pastoral planning • to be offered at Marygrove Camp during the months of September and October 2012 • retreat content to include 3 training sessions: • Made in the Image and Likeness of God • What is Social Justice? • Planning a Just World

  6. Social Justice Conference • a planning team will be established to form and hold annually a conference for secondary schools • Planning team to include a sub-committee of chaplaincy leaders, students and social justice/ club teacher supervisors • 1st conference tentatively set for the 2013-14 academic school year • venue set for Marygrove Camp in Penetang, Ontario • topics, speakers, activities tbd
