They had four children named Jacob, Rebecca, Maxwell, and Alexandra. In his later years, Hoffman became a more devout Jew. He had bar and bat mitzvahs for each of his children. Hoffman was also a political liberal. He is know for supporting Ralph Nader and a letter advocating fair treatment of Scientologists in Germany.
