  1. John Cabot By: Rafael Solis

  2. Intro This report will be on John Cabot. He was born Giovanni Cabot in the 1450’s. The reason that I chose this explorer was because I saw he had many names in many different places. So I thought ‘‘since he has many names, maybe he traveled more often than I thought.’’ So that is why I chose John Cabot. In this report you will read about John’s two voyages. Also the obstacles he faced during those adventures. And details about his crew and the ship he sailed and the name. John came to America in 1492.

  3. Why my explorer set out to North America Just like Christopher Columbus, John also believed sailing west of Europe was a quicker way to Asia. So when John met King Henry VII he took the offer to sail to Asia to find more riches for England

  4. First Voyage When King Henry asked John to find many more riches, John didn’t have much time to prepare. In the time he was given to prepare he could only find 18 men and a decent ship. His ship could carry 50 tons of weight. So in early May of 1497 John thought he was ready. However, that all changed once he sent out to his voyage. When he set out many of his crew died because of food getting rotten and no water. So sadly, John had to turn back.

  5. Last Voyage This voyage John had 5 ships and this time he supposedly found a new world and sailed to England immediately. So when John retuned he went straight to the king. The king rewarded him with ten dollars. Equivalent to two years of a normal workers pay.

  6. How did the Native Americans welcome the explorers? The Native American’s treated these newcomers very well and with respect. Unlike other explorers John didn’t try to enslave the Native Americans. John and his crew traded raccoon hats and other items with the Native Americans.

  7. When did John Cabot get to New York? No Info was found

  8. How My Person Contributed To NYS History John’s Cabot’s contributions to America were he sent out to find new land so that he can build new land and people can all live there. So that and he wanted to find riches for him.
