  3. Philosophical Ideas • State of Nature = State of War • Humanity is downfall & savior • (Law of Nature, but in general humans are bad) • People cannot govern themselves • Time period: English, in favor of England

  4. Beliefs in Government • Social Contract • Anti-Democratic • Believed in monarchy • Government is necessary • Absolutism – Ideal government only complete with “essential rights of sovereignty”
