  2. Introductions • Dennis Davis – Athletic Director, Head Coach Boys Basketball and Baseball • Preben Gietz – Assistant to the Athletic Director, Middle School Boys Soccer Coach

What does St. John’s offer? • Fall season (September-November): • HS Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Volleyball and Cross Country • MS Boys and Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball and Boys and Girls Cross Country (if eligible) • Winter season (November-March): • HS Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Swimming • MS Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Swimming (if eligible) • Spring season (March-June): • HS Boys and Girls Track & Field, Boys and Girls Tennis, Baseball, Softball • MS students may compete in HS teams if eligible • Brussels Sports Association (BSA) connection

  4. What do we compete in? • ISST: • As an ISST member school, STJ athletes travel to and host other member schools in many weekday and weekend competitions and for ISST Championships • For each sport the season ends with a three-day tournament hosted by one of the ISST member schools • Middle School • Middle School teams (grades 6-8) compete against Middle School teams from other international schools • For Cross Country, Swimming and Track & Field 6-8 graders may compete in ISST’s, if eligible

Who can compete? • ISST eligibility: • To be eligible to compete in ISST championships for Cross Country, Swimming and Track & Field the athlete must be at least 12 years old on September 1st of the school year • To be eligible to compete in any other ISST championship the athlete must be at least 13 years old and no older than 18 on September 1st of the school year

What do we believe in? • The purpose of athletics at St. John’s is to promote the physical, mental, moral, and emotional well-being of the student-athlete • We encourage a winning spirit without losing sight of the ideals of athletic competition • We aspire to give every student a chance to participate • As part of St. John’s Guiding Statements, we value Companionship, Respect, Integrity

  7. What do we expect from our students? • To follow the ISST Statement of Sportsmanship • To recognize that they are official representatives of the school during competition and travel • To maintain a good academic standing • To inform the coach prior to missing a game or practice

After-School Activities • In addition to competitive sports teams, STJ offers after-school activities ranging from the arts to sports • There are activities for all age groups (grade 1-12) • Registration for activities opens on Monday, September 5 on the St. John’s Academy website - http://www.stjohnsacademy.org/ • Activities will begin on Monday, September 12
