VETERANS ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA • Served in the military honorably • Resident of Pennsylvania upon entering the military • Suffered a service-related injury or incurred a disease which resulted in loss • of vision: • Visual acuity with the best correcting lens is 3/60 or 10/200 or • equivalent or less normal vision in the better eye. • Includes circumstances where the widest diameter of the visual field of • the better eye has contracted to an angular distance of not greater • than 20º. Creation and History • Governor Ridge created the state’s first coordinated effort, the Base Retention and Closure-Pennsylvania Action Committee, BRAC-PAC in 1996 following the completion of the 1995 BRAC round • Governor Rendell reorganized the effort in June 2003 into an ad hoc committee, the Base Development Committee, which operated through the 2005 BRAC round and was eliminated in 2009 due to budgetary constraints • Governor Corbett reestablished the initiative via Executive Order in September 2012 at the urging of the MIBDC and local advocates
