  2. Summer holidays • When I was a child we used to go camping every summer. We’d choose a different place each year, and we’d drivearound until we found a beach we liked. Then we’d pitch our tent, as near as possible to the beach. We’d usually spend most of the time on the beach or exploring the country round about. We never went to the same beach twice.

  3. Explain • pitch a tent (a phrase) pitch: set up tent: A portable shelter, usually made of canvas, supported by poles and ropes.

  5. 1. We used to go camping. 2. We used to go to camping. To go V-ing It means that to (travel somewhere in order to) do the stated activity. For example: We are going to swimming in the afternoon. He has gone shopping. Differences

  6. Differences • 1. We’d choose a different place each year. • =We would choose a different place each year • 2.We chose a different place each year.

  7. S wouldV= S used to V • It can express that the action was often repeated in the past. Its mean is equal to “used to.” Both of them can express the past habits. • For example: • When I was a child, my father would read me a story at night before bedtime. • = When I was a child, my father used to read me a story at night before bedtime.

  8. ~Conclusion~

  9. The dictogloss technique requires leaner to processthe whole text at once. To do this, the learners have to capture the meaning of the text, although they may not recall the exact forms in which the meaning is conveyed. Therefore, when it comes to reconstruct the meaning of the text, they tend to draw down on forms which they are already familiar with.

  10. When they compare their vision of the text with the original one, they can notice the difference between how they expressed the meaning and how the teacher expressed it. It is very important for the learners to find the differences for themselves, in order for them to make the necessary adjustments to their mental grammar.

  11. Giving the students the short text and not over their ability of language is essential. They are more practical than authentic texts. The teacher must try to “tell” the text that will engage the students’ attention more directly. It is necessary to re-tellthe students once or twice and make sure they really understand what the teacher say. Step 2 and 3 is giving the students’ chance to reconstruction.

  12. It is very important that each learner should ask questions that they don’t understand and know clearly as to the nature of differences between their own text and the original, including the acceptable alternative and unacceptable. ps.1.Acceptable alternative: the sentence isn’t the original one that the teacher read but the grammar which the students made are also right. 2.Unacceptable alternative: the grammar is wrong and the sentence isn’t also the teacher said before.

  13. ~The End~
