  2. Configuring Junk Mail Handling • Junk Mail Handling enables you to have actions taken automatically on any junk mail you receive, such as deleting the mail automatically. Junk Mail Handling also enables you to block email from a certain address, or to allow email from others.

  3. Junk Mail Handling Continued • Junk Mail Handling is not enabled by default. When you enable it, a new folder, called the Junk Mail folder, is created in your Folder List box. Any mail that you deemed junk mail will be placed into this folder automatically upon arrival. Junk mail is identified from an address YOU specified as a junk address.

  4. Junk Mail Handling Continued • Enabling Junk Mail Handling • In GroupWise under the main menu Choose,Tools, Junk Mail Handling • Under the Settings Tab, Click on Enable Junk List • Click OK

  5. Difference between Junk List and Block List • Junk List: the email you specify will be sent to the Junk Mail Folder to be viewed at a later date. • Block List: the email you specify will be sent to the Trash Folder that will be deleted at the end of the day.

  6. Adding Addresses to the Junk List • You can configure both specific email addresses and domain names. • Example of a domain name would be anyone@und.nodak.edu. • If you configure domain names, then any email coming from any address in the domain will be considered junk mail and moved to the Junk Mail folder.

  7. Adding Addresses to the Junk List • To add an email address Junk List. Right mouse click on the email message in the FROM section in GroupWise. • From this screen: • Select Junk Mail • Select Junk Sender

  8. Junk Sender • The following screen will appear • You have a choice: • Junk e-mail from this address • Junk any e-mail from this Internet domain • Be sure there is a check mark Move item to the Junk Mail Folder • Click OK

  9. Adding Addresses to the Block List • To add an email address Block List. Right mouse click on the email message in the FROM section in GroupWise. • From this screen: • Select Junk Mail • Select Block Sender

  10. Block Sender • The following screen will appear • You have a choice: • Block e-mail from this address • Block any e-mail from this Internet domain • Be sure there is a check mark Move item to the Trash folder • Click OK

  11. Configuring Automatic Junk Mail Deletion • In GroupWise from the main menu: • Choose: Tools, Junk Mail Handling • On the Settings tab, in the Junk Mail Folder area, click on Automatically delete items xx days after delivery (move to Trash). • Specify the number of days • Mail placed into the Junk Mail folder will now be deleted xx days after delivery. • Click OK to save your changes

  12. Trust List • A Junk Mail Handling list to which you add addresses or domains from which you want to receive messages. • Not really necessary. Maybe helpful if you wanted to block a domain but wanted a trust email address under that domain. • I would not recommend using unless you are very sure what you are doing.
