  2. War in Iraq • Iraqi civilian death over 100,000 • 4,439 US troops casualties • 54% under 25 years old • 72% is US Army • US wounded is 32,033 • 20% have serious brain injuries • 30% serious mental health problems (can return home for 3-4 months)

  3. Cost of War • 900 Billion war spending for the US Comparisons in Billions: • Iraq/Afghanistan (2001-present) $252.0 • First Gulf War ( 1990-1991) $81.8 • Vietnam ( 1964-1972) $531.5 • Korea (1950-1953) $361.2 • World War 2 (1941-1945) $3,114.3 • World War 1 ( 1917-1918) $204.9

  4. Iraq Government • It has been three months ago since Iraq's leaders forged an awkward and inclusive government • Despite his promises to public issues from U.S. officials • Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has stopped appointing ministers to oversee Iraq's police and military, two of the last positions to be filled

  5. deBa’athification of the Iraq Culture • Banned high-level Ba’athist’s from top government jobs • It prevented tens of thousands of Iraqis who were low-level party members—people who had joined to avoid police harassment or secure college admission for their children—from returning to their jobs in factories, in schools, in hospitals • The two decisions did more than anything else to transform the U.S. effort to rebuild the country into a bloody, chaotic mess • Faced with no future in the new Iraq, it was only natural that many of newly dispossessed would take up arms. L. Paul Bremer 3 went to Baghdad with an paper in a briefcase.

  6. Disbanding the Iraqi Military • This went against the Bush administration • This caught the president off guard, because ten thousands Iraqies are unemployed • They are armed Ba’athists-formerly lead by Saddam Hussein laid ground for the Coalition Troops

  7. Questions • What surprised me the most when I watched No End in Sight? The harshness of what really happened to the Iraqi people. 2. What angered me the most when I watched No End in Sight? The killings and American soldiers getting hurt, because they were just there to help. 3. What information should every American know about the Iraq War? The information is the reason of the disbanding of army. The Iraqi’s are known for killing each other and outside in time of distress. 4.Do I think that the lessons I have learned can be used for new problems? I have learned that in order to overcome obstacles, you must first try to limit the big situation. • What are the precautions that one should take for having interventions in places like: Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and North Korea? The precautions are never to let down your guard and be aware of all things around you. Try to research where you are going first.
