  3. What is a lesson? Within small group lessons, students are taught individual techniques. These techniques include the following Good tone production Musicality Physical skills Rhythmic accuracy Tonal accuracy

  4. When are these lessons? These lessons meet once a week for 30 minutes. They are pulled out from their classroom during the school day and expected to make up work missed during that time.

  5. What is a full ensemble rehearsal Full ensemble rehearsal uses those individual techniques taught in lessons but emphasizes ensemble skills such as blend of tone and balance of instrument volumes. While the majority of the time in lessons is spent on music from the book, the music stressed at the full rehearsals is material that will be used for performances throughout the year!

  6. How much should they practice? At least 5 days a week At least 15-20 minutes a day

  7. Practicing Tips! • Set a regular practice time • Find a quiet practice place at home • Have instrument set up, in a safe place, when not needed in school

  8. What is the Music Portfolio ? • Student Practice Log • Recordings, Digital Pictures, Digital Video • Parent/Student/Teacher Assessments • Rhythmic and Tonal Challenges • Would you like a copy?
