  3. Sunset is an allusion to a picture or reflection of life about to end. • Sunrise is an allusion to a new life of Midaq Alley because the war was about to end. • The Alley is the true hero. It is a symbol; a slice of the society that represent the whole Egypt.

  4. Dramatic side of the Alley through Abas and Hamida’s vision. Social situation in the Alley reacts with Hamida psychological situation. As a result we have a dramatic situation. Dramatic hero • Secondary characters are presented as a living proof of what the war did to them, to show the consequences of the war and its meaning.

  5. Mrs. Afify: Marriage • Booshy: Opening graves • Zita: Cripple-maker • Kirsha: delinquent conducts
