  1. SETTING UP A POE SWITCH WITH NVR: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

  2. POE Switches in Modern Network Easy to install and maintain video surveillance systems Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows electrical power to be transmitted over Ethernet cables, eliminating the need for separate power cables. It is widely used in modern video networks to power and control video devices over a network, such as IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones. This makes a only one cable needs to be run to each device. There are two main standards for PoE: 802.3af and 802.3at, which provide different levels of power. Know more information about POE Technology here.

  3. The PoE switches eliminate the need for an additional power source between the main power sourcing equipment (PSE) and powered devices (PDs) as the integrated devices in the Ethernet network are powered by the PoE-powered source. These switches comply with the IEEE802.3af standard. They support a power consumption of 15.4W per PoE port. The PD devices, which have an operating voltage between 37V to 57V, can be connected to these switches. Know more information about POE Switches here. What are POE Switches? PoE switches are network switches that have the capability to provide power to devices over Ethernet cables.

  4. It allows for centralized control and uses PoE switches to distribute electronic data and power over an Ethernet cable to multiple devices. The switches send video data to a specific IP address controlled by the PoE NVR. What are POE NVR? PoE NVR is a network video recorder that uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) transmission protocols to manage and store video or image data.

  5. Difference between PoE NVR and PoE Switches

  6. Connect NVR to PoE router using an Ethernet cable. • Connect PoE switch to LAN port of PoE router using an Ethernet cable. • Connect power cable to PoE switch and plug it into a power outlet. • Connect IP cameras to the ports on the PoE switch. • Ensure IP cameras are connected to the PoE NVR router for centralized control and recording. Steps to Connect POE Switch With NVR

  7. Connect the IP cameras to a PoE switch with 1 to 8 ports. • Connect the PoE switch to the local area network (LAN) to use as a hub or command switch. • Connect the hub or command switch to a PoE router. • Connect another PoE switch with 1 to 8 ports to the hub switch through an open port. This increases the total number of PoE ports to 15 (7 from the hub switch and 8 from the secondary PoE switch). • Connect the NVR to the PoE router and link all IP cameras to the NVR. This allows all cameras to function under the same NVR network and provides additional utility PoE ports. PoE Switch Setup with NVR to Get More Ports
