Education is fundamentally interactive – technological use increases this interactivity. Old pedagogical models are being improved on in the digital space. Across all content industries it is no longer about $X for Content Y Number of start-up and non-traditional publishing companies are threatening the traditional publishers in the digital space.   31. MOBILE PHONE USE STATISTICS Interesting Key Facts. Mobile industry is now bigger than the PC industry >$ 1 trillion per annum. PC industry is rapidly shrinking as users (particularly emerging markets) favour mobile devices over pc devices. Two-thirds of the human race have a mobile phone subscription. Emerging Markets – average penetration rate reached 57% (leapfrogging). SMS is the most used data application worldwide. Mobile access will greatly exceed pc access to the internet within three years. Jon White - Vilnius, September 2010
  32. 4.1 billion mobile phone subscriptions globally. 6.7 billion people globally = mobile phone subscription for 60% of the human race. <1 billion people use the internet worldwide, 1.3 billion fixed landline phones. 850 million cars in use worldwide, 1.5 billion TV sets, 1.4 billion people own at least one credit card globally. Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, SonyEricsson and LG ship over a billion phones annually . >3.5 billion people have at least one phone.

  33. Over 70 countries have passed the 100% per capita subscription penetration. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Israel, Italy have penetration rates of 130% and above and European average penetration is about 110% . USA = c90%. 3.5G services in S-East/East Asia has led to broadband mobile access. Incredibly fast developing world take-up. India – 10 million new subscribers a month. Mobile Internet will Grow and Grow and Grow!
