  8. Mathematics • Math topics include multiplication, place value, rounding, division, fractions, decimals, and geometry. • Homework is assigned Monday-Thursday. Homework sheets should be kept in the pocket in the front of the agenda. • Students MUSTknow their multiplication facts!

What to Expect in Social Studies • Map and Globe Skills • Lifestyle and contributions of Native Americans • European exploration in North America • Colonial America • Cause, events, and results of the American Revolution • Understanding resources of our country • Events that led to the Civil War

  11. Ways that YOU can help UShelp YOUR CHILD! • Use multiplication flashcards at home. Practice, practice, practice! • Re-read the “story of the week” at home. • Read a book together each evening for at least 15 minutes. Discuss the characters, plot, and setting. • Look over the agenda together each evening. Discuss accomplishments and difficulties! • Have your child “teach you” something new they learned in math, science, or social studies!

Organization • Different folders and notebooks for each class • Use appropriate heading on all papers • Be prepared for all classes-agenda, pencil, paper, books, folders, & notebooks • Clean out old papers from folders & backpacks • Make sure you have all supplies everyday (check your child’s paper & pencil supply regularly- they do run out)
