Time • Kairos - Kαιρός • Right or opportune moment; Time in between: a moment of undetermined period of time in which "something" special happens • Kairos has a qualitative nature • Chronos - Χρόνος • Personification of Timeemerging from the primordial Chaos • Chronos has a quantitative nature

Biblical Time 12 Month Lunar Cycle (New Moon & Spring Equinox) "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years" (Genesis 1:14). “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you" (Exodus 12:1-2). "This day came ye out in the month Abib" (Exodus 13:4). "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another (month), and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, said the LORD" (Isaiah 66:23). "In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar" (Esther 3:7).

Theological / Liturgical Foundations • The beginning of the Liturgical year and lectionary are narratives of the beginning of Jesus’ life and ministry and unfolds throughout the year to the apex of the passion, death, and resurrection stories.  • The year and lectionary further develop the paschal mystery as it moves toward the end times pointing to the eschaton. • Thus the seasons of celebration and the lectionary are held in tension.
