  1. Victoria Park Acupuncture - Dispelling the Myths There are several forms of alternative medicine, but, certain schools or practices are more well known. Traditional Chinese medicine or TCM, for example, is one of the first that comes to mind, and acupuncture is the first practice people associate with TCM. This practice has spread from East to West since around the 16th century, with mixed feedback into its effectiveness – both from people and from recent medical studies. Clinics or establishments like Victoria Park Acupuncture offering this remedy, still thrive. However, there are some misguided ideas, if not myths, surrounding the practice. Here are a few, such as: Not everyone responds to acupuncture. There are many clinics located in places like Florida and Perth, to name a few. Every clinician uses various styles or techniques, and the effects on an individual are just as varied. Whatever your concern, your response won't be the same as an acquaintance. So, if you don't see improvement with one practitioner, look for another one and see if that works. Inserting the needles will hurt. Actually, because of how thin the acupuncture needles are, you might not feel much of anything. This holds true whether you live in Australia or in Europe. Some people have said they felt something like a mosquito bite, while others have said they didn't feel anything at all.

  2. What you should feel, though, is a tingling, throbbing, or electrical sort of sensation at the insertion site, which is a sign that your body's healing energy is doing its job. • Conventional physicians won't recommend it. Lately, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has recognised acupuncture and related practices like cupping as valid therapy options. More and more medical practitioners recommend this therapy for certain disorders or conditions, such as allergies and hypertension, without a second thought. • In general, acupuncture can be used by itself, or in conjunction with conventional medicine, to boost the health benefits of both. • Getting acupuncture means missing work. It's true that there are some undesirable side effects, such as fatigue or a worsening of symptoms. Yet, the good news is, these are rare. You're more likely to be able to go to work the day after your first session. • Once you start, you'll always need it. In truth, you won't always need acupuncture, however, it's true that there will be more than one session involved. In Australia and other countries treatment is usually sliced into 3 to 8 sessions, sometimes as many as 10. It depends on the condition, and the person's response to the therapy. • There's the odd case of someone seeing an acupuncturist for maintenance, much as you would visit your general practitioner for a check-up now and then. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean they're always sick or that other treatments won't work on them. • It's a good thing that, despite these myths circulating, there are still people who are able to get the procedure and relief they need. So, the next time you look at treatment options, you may want to consider an appointment at Victoria Park Acupuncture or a similar establishment. Who knows, the result may be better than you expected.
