  5. General Facts • Space Craft Name :Shenzhou • Launch Site: Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province • Astronauts called:Taikonauts nicknamed “yuhang yangs” (14 total test pilots) • Guo Baozhu, Voice and Administrator of the Chinese National Space Academy

  7. Shenzhou Mission Description • Launch from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center • 4 orbits piloted by one crew member • Landing Inner Mongolia. • Landing style similar to Russian Soyuz

China’s Goals • October is the anniversary of the Communist revolution in China, and possibly first manned flight • rendezvous-docking mission between two back-to-back Shenzhou launches (7 and 8) • Launch every 8-9 months • lunar exploration awaiting government approval. • Possible ISS cooperation
