  2. Introduction CAT or the Common Admission Test is one of the foremost priorities for any MBA aspirant. A dynamic test, its scores are accepted by the 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) and by more than 100 B-schools in the country. This year, CAT will be conducted by IIM – Lucknow.

  3. Important Dates • Commencement of CAT Application, 2017 – August 2017 • Closing date of the applications – September 2017 • Availability of admit card – October 2017 • Exam date – December 2017 • Result declaration – January 2018

  4. Eligibility Criteria • The applicant must have secured 50% marks or more in their bachelor’s program from a recognized institution. • The minimum marks required for reserved categories, which are scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, persons with disability, and other backward classes, is 45%. • Candidates in the final year of their undergraduate programs and those awaiting their final results are also eligible to take CAT 2017. • Marks obtained in CGPA must be converted into percentage as per the procedure followed by the institution that the candidate has passed out of.

  5. Application Form • CAT application 2017 will take place online, via the official website of CAT • Various online payment procedures are available for application fee, including – net banking, and credit and debit cards. • The application fee for general and NC-OBC categories is Rs 1700 • The application fee for others is Rs 850 • Besides the above, a transaction processing fee is also applicable.

  6. Exam Pattern • It will be a Computer Based Test (CBT), hence has to be taken online. • Time – 180 minutes • Total questions – 100 • Marking scheme – 3 marks/correct answer • Negative Marking – Yes. 1mark/wrong answer • Syllabus – Logical reasoning and data interpretation, quantitative ability, verbal ability and reading comprehension

  7. Admit Card • It will only be available online • Students must download the same from the official website of CAT 2017 • Without this document, students will not be allowed to take the exam Since CAT can change your career greatly, you must know all about the exam before you take it.
